Through occupation and location I have met many famous people.

Where should I start ?

I used to drink with the late, great Bill ('Born Free') Travers and still occasionally see his wife, Dame Virginia McKenna who lives very near.

I think that was his name. It was a long, long time ago. Don't know that he is still working, but he did go back to hospital portering after making at least the first film.
I'm hanging our for someone who knows Harrison.

I sat quite near Douglas Hurd in Westminster Abbey at a weekday evensong a few years ago. That day was also momentous in that it was the first and only time I've ever been in a Starbucks.

In his younger days my acupuncturist was friends with The Damned, particularly Captain Sensible. He didn't treat them - I think he owned a recording studio in south London.

One of my friends at university was the sister of Den Hegarty, who sang with The Darts in the 70s/80s.

Malcolm Macdonald (the footballer) came to live in the village I grew up in, and he used to drink in my local.

My other half is a distant cousin of Anita Lonsbrough, the 1960s Olympic swimmer.

Jean-Christophe Novelli bought a house from me, (not my house, I was just the agent). Then a few weeks later came back with his better looking younger brother for him to buy a house too.

My colleague didn't say anything but when they had gone he handed me a large handkerchief and told me to pick my chin up off the floor and wipe the drool off.

The late ellist Jaqueline Du Pre, who was a family friend of art-mistress of Nell Todd.

Jaqueline and I used to make pots together in the art school.

A lovely girl and a sad loss at such a tender age.

A warning especially for the ladies. On TV yesterday there is one Starbucks coffee which racks up over 600 calories (which is one third of your recommended daily intake). However if you are hungry you can have one of their muffins to go with your coffee - that racks up marginally under 600 in addition so, if you are on a diet, that is enough for a day and certainly you should not consider a second muffin.

People seem to be getting into the spirit of it!!

I trained in the same gym and at the same time as Geoff Capes because Stuart Storey (who commentates on Athletics for BBC these days) was his coach and also fitness coach to the rugby club I played for at the time. Mr Capes is (or was then) extremely large and extremely strong. He repeatedly benched pressed 350lb as easily as a parent might lift their little baby up and down to amuse it while lying on the bed!

I also played cricket against the late Brian Moore who used to commentate on football and present the Big Match on ITV on Sundays decades ago. He was somebody who truly merited the adjective gentleman.

My mother moved to Kingsgate near Broadstairs and the late Jack Warner of Dixon of Dock Green fame lived up the road. Some of the roads are quite narrow round there and Jack regarded them as his personal domain when out in the car (he was well into his eighties by then). There were a couple of occasions when I was out for a run that he nearly took me out!

The landlord of my local on Shooters Hill was the father of fashion designer Jeff Banks who married "Puppet on a string" Sandie Shaw.

well my dad was in Halfords in Horsham one day when Julie Walters mistook him for someone who worked there.

Sting lived near horhsam and was spotted intesco's once and Roger Taylor was also once spotted there by my mum

I'll throw in a few more non tenuous ones.

Graham Poll (highly opinionated Premiership Referee of 3 Yellow Cards fame) lives about 200 yds from me, and his wife teaches in the same school as my son goes to.

Dave Lee Travis is a regular in our local Hardware/Haberdashery/DIY shop

Vinny Jones was a regular in my pub until he finally moved full time to LA last year (although not often when I was there)

Sat behind Thom Yorke from Radiohead on Eurostar from Paris a while back

Not exactly my claim to fame but...

My grandmother and the real Joy Adamson used to be very great friends.

Also, I have met Geoff Capes several times... he used to do some publicity work for the same company that I worked for. He was and probably still is, a well known budgie breeder. I am only 5ft 2, so when we were working together at trade shows it must have looked rather odd.

David Blunkett with dog got onto the same train as me at Leicester station.
