I just couldn't have a conversation with them when I heard " hello my name is Debbie" with a heavy indian accent. It would be a good minute before I could respond to her by which time she had hung up

We've just had dealings with dell and the only people we spoke to were Indians. No dispespect but I honestly could not understand a word they said. They ended up speaking to us via their instant messaging thing which was a lot easier.

Come to think of it, it might have been Linksys when we had problems with wireless.
You`re right - my mistake! (at least it was another computer type company!)

If you have a problem with a company ( I had with insurance once) and they refuse to answer your letters, just copy the letter to the MD - just see how quickly you get a reply then!

I did that with Halifax Bank and the poo storm it created was bliss to watch as it got down to branch level

It was a friend of mine who works at a relatively high level in a bank who told me to that!

It is good fun to watch as the storm gathers momentum

At first they were told to try and make it sound like the call centre was still in the UK so you ended up with a woman with a heavy madras accent saying "Hellooo my name is Dubee how cain I heeelp you"

oh i get it
I always ask where they are
then what time it
then what the weather's like
then why are they working at 5am...
if I have time of course
and if i'm not paying £1/min for the call...
usually have a good chat
maybe I'm just good at understanding the Indian subcontinental accents...

I had a problem with one the biggest US telecoms companies - xxxxxxx - sending me over 280 spam messages a day. They ignored email complaints and then started passing on spam allegedly from xxxxxxx University. Eventually I did some research, discovered the name, personal and business addresses of their head of internet communications and of their complaints supervisor (freely available for many sites on the internet). Rang themn up and asked what town they were in - "sorry, I don't know", what state are you in? "sorry, can't tell you". Well, that building just over the road is ........... and by the way, your Mr ..... (head of internet communications) lives at .................... and his home phone number is ............... Do you think his wife would pass on the message to him when he gets home tonight that you [name] are being obstructive and offensive and racist?
They were thick as two short planks - they didn't know who their bosses were , didn't know who was responsible for stopping spam, didn't know how to transfer my call to ......., didn't know the phone number of that person responsible. xxxxxxx staff were the pits and below; stupid yanks. That said, the spam stopped 2 days later.

I`m always amazed at how these companies can pass the buck constantly! Have been having dealings with ntl and orange recently - neither will take responsibility for blocking emails - both blaming the other!
"Your custom is important to us" , " We pride ourselves on our customer service" " your call is important to us" etc etc etc........ yeah right!
I`m still waiting for a reply from orange from an email I sent over a week ago - haven`t even received so much as a " thank you for your email" !! ( Perhaps I shouldn`t have requested a reply from a human being !!)

Re the indian call centres - you do have to feel quite sorry for them - alot of those who are employed actually have degrees in in credible things like medicine, astro physics - but call centres pay so much better than their qualifications job they end up as a call centre person. When they arrive at work - they have to watch last nights Eastenders... (poor things they believe we are all living like that!!) and then they have to see what the weather in the UK is doing, after that they are on the phones.
I want to learn a phew phrases in Punjabi and other indian dialect so I can say Hello, lovely talking to you but now please put me through to the ENGLISH department!
