Well, on topic (of course, as always), my CH music memories are:

Pixies
Lemonheads
Doors
Friday I'm in Love - what a good song.
And for some reason a newly released version of a song, actually don't know what it's called, something about raining in my heart from the 60s.

The LE played a lots of interesting things on my squits in dorm (3 year groups in an open dorm) and this affected my musical tastes dramatically. My year wanted to listen to Radio 1 all the time, every morning at 7 it went on when the rising bell went, I hated it! So the LE's music was wonderful in comparison, The Cure, Morrissey. Can't remember others now.

I share FrogBoxed's memories too as she was a 3rd form in the same dorm at the time.

And Marty introduced me to Crowded House. Private Universe, the best song.

The Plum and I used to sing songs from the Tom Paxton album "The Marvellous Toy and other Gallimaufry" when walking down front ave. How weird we must have seemed! Actually, would like that album on CD if anyone knows how to spell it...?

Hmmm. Enigma to calm down
The Doors when Gregor was playing it loudly
Guns and Roses
Abba coming though the wall from Boris's study
The Smiths

I so forgot the Smiths. Think that was one of those LE things too.

How can you forget The Smiths?

Oh and I am going to have to add in REM

The 2 albums marty mentioned, Autiomatic and the earlier one with SHP on were definitely great 90s CH classics.

When I left CH, I though everyone liked REM, that they were the great musical unifier. Until I went to uni.

I listened to that one with SHP on the other day, and it was the first time I have ever been disappointed with an album I used to like.

Ha, Out Of Time. That's the one.

Those two albums summed up my age group. Barely anyone I know doesnt own them, either legal or taped copy.

Only song I cant stand is "Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight" as it got overplayed EVERYWHERE

Referring back to the actual name of the topic, the album that got my through CH (and on my juniors it was all just getting through it) personally, was Paul Simon's Graceland.

When I got a walkman finally, on my 3rd form, I listened to that album EVERY night for over a year. I wore out 3 tapes of it and to this day never listen to the original of a tape, always make a copy in case I kill it. Mainly CDs though now, still some vinyl.

BTW that's perfectly legal if it's your album to start with.

All that you can't leave behind - U2 - particularly, 'In a Little While'

Radio 2 (does this count?)

Think so. Lots of people have mentioned the radio, but CH put me off it. That awful Chris Evans bloke was in my ears every morning at 7. Shouldn't be allowed.

When I saw she loved the Pixies I cheered

When I saw Graceland I slunk off disappointed with the girl
