Flirting has helped to revive
a thread that had started to dive
but I agree it is true
we should talk matters blue
to ensure the thread continues to thrive.

How good to see Emperor Josh
keep the audience under the cosh
it was positively swell
to see them play well
just hope the School gets some dosh!

Well then, so be it
I don't mind a bit

Dear Helen
If aught we have done to offend
We’re sorry. I’d like to extend
Our apologies here
For it does appear
That none on this thread would intend
To cause hurt or displeasure............... So please
Just relax, and taking your ease
Enjoy these essays
(There’s much here to praise)
They intended no harm or dis-ease.
A thread is a bit like a child
Obedient first, then rather wild.
We should not bemoan
A life of its own
It should be cherished and never reviled
Whatever its nature or course....................
Whence came its conception or source,
We should not essay
To determine its way
Or our own predelictions enforce.
For then it will prosper and grow
And mature in a way that I know
Will call out the best
From all of the rest.
That the Forum’s decorum may show
In all that its members may write..................
I think we should always invite
Any verses at all,
(Whether lengthy or small)
But endeavour to keep them polite.
(I think, Emma Jane, that this
my best to date!)

helen wrote:Great to see all the contributions lately. I chose llimericks because they're short and concise- but the thread could be re named to include all kinds of verse. Perhaps there is a sonneteer out there who feels rejected . . . if so, please post anyway, especially if you have CH as your topic.Or . . .
to Hendrick
If you'd now like to make a new kind
Of a limerick without the grind
Do please go ahead
With a free versish thread
I am sure lots of people won't mind.
(and it seems lots of people look in here)

I couldn't agree with you more!
There's plenty of verse I am sure
Will fit on this thread.
So please go ahead
Write lots about Housie .........and more!

I don't mind some fun
But when all's said and done
That's not the intended mandate.
I want now today to inject
A thought that I hope you'll respect
That if you want more
Than this thread can explore
You will start one yourself more direct.
Far be it from me to oppose
the flirtatious outpourings of those
Who are fantasy prone
And enjoy a mind blown
By attention from one English rose.
I'm probably out on a limb
And sound too oppressively prim
You may all desert
Much preferring to flirt
On a new site with new pseudonym.
I'm not all averse to some fun
or the joy of a good clever pun
but some of the 'verse'
is not better but worse
And the prose is invasively done.
I want to keep on with this thread
About things that at CH were said
And personal views
About willies amuse
But would be better elsewhere instead.
But if this results in a lull
Because you think I am too dull
Well then, so be it
I don't mind a bit
And I'll kill this thread, go void and null.
OK you want amat
Amo amas and all that
No fun and no froth
Is allowed in your broth
Just Latin and shakespeare and tat.

Strange you used the word DULL
To describe your own missive from HULL?
You'd rather me tedious
And never mischievious
So the thread becomes VOID and NULL

I know that I sometimes sound cross
On account of me reading such toss
But most of the blokes
Can see that I pokes
Some some fun at the serious - their loss!

Conclusions you draw aren't correct
As I dont ever mean to reject
Any lighthearted muse
But am hoping they choose
Things that mostly with CH connect.

I'm not making comments on style
Of the verse, but just musing awhile
I only say that
Flirting's "non CH chat"
So it's there you can ladies beguile.
And that's my last word on the topic
I'm not really too misanthropic.
So glad to see stalwarts who still
Write some verses that so fit the bill
The rock school reviews
Have shown much to amuse
And for kids must have been quite a thrill.

I’m sorry you might think I’m rude
And that some of my words been crude
But in
limerick verse
It would be quite perverse
Should a ‘willy’ not sometimes intrude!

If you make a rhyme about school
Be observant, for there is a rule
You use the word "willy"
And you will seem silly
But only to the lack-humour fool!

Be gentle to all, Oh my friend
For we must be careful to spend
Our time on this forum
With due sense and decorum
As befits our brotherhood trend
"Fear God, Honour the Queen, Love the Brotherhood" - CH motto.
or, as we say in these parts:
"Pertheugh own a Dhew,
Gordhyans dhe’n vyghternes,
Kereugh an Bredereth"

You are right my illustrious friend!
To rudeness I never should bend.
The ones who, me, tick off
I'll ignore and, wounds, lick off
Just to true friends, new posts I will send.

So I think I now owe YOU a beer
If that we ever come near
One day we'll make tracks
Right down to the Bax
And share a pint or two there.

Flirting may be a 'new' CH trend
And I hope people we did not offend
While some pay too much mind
And see such fun as a bind
I hope this rift we can mend
(One of my finest?

)
