Thanks, the thought of staying on at my current school makes me a bit worried about what grades I'm going to get. Every parents evening it's all 'You can do better, you can get A's!' but what with it being a comprehensive it's difficult, there are so many people who shout across rooms and teachers who refuse to teach because of it.

Working hard helps. My niece applied to do medicine but was only predicted a B in Biology. In the event she got an A and was one of the top ten students in the country. She is taking a gap year and re-applying for next year.

Bar extra curricular, if you come across as personable, bright, friendly/social im sure that too would be very useful. The school tend to like pupils who will get involved in any of the varied aspects of life there not just sport and music.
If they can see that socially you will fit well into the shared house environment, potentiallyb be supportive to younger pupils.

Thanks for the tips, I'm afraid my singing sounds like a cross between white noise and cats screeching but I was looking at a few clubs at school, I think I'm going to join the media club and the badminton club.
Well, it's probably more tuneful than mine. And at least you're willing. That's equally as important, that you're willing to make the most of CH, and not to take things for advantage. And mention the music - perhaps with a view to retaking it up should you get in? Both are band instruments. And the creative writing bit sounds good - we publish the Outlook (Creative Writing newsletter) every so often at CH and there's poetry evenings about twice a year. Are you more poetry or prose?
