Yes, I got a very personalised post card of the Band marching in a circle (is this Beating the Retreat?). My brother said he hadn't had his call yet this year!

I wonder if there is an age cut off (for us youngsters) as I have never been phoned up by an ex Grecian... I wouldn't give the school any money at the moment anyway, as they are spending too much of their money, building random walls on the back ash...

Re: Grecians' phone calls
This morning I had a very nice letter from Anne Sartain, apologising for phoning when I had been bereaved, and hoping it hadn't upset me. Even though the letters cost money they show that there are real people there not a faceless machine.
Matt, I have no idea when you will get your first call, I can't even remember how long they have been doing these calls.

Great Plum,
You say: "...they are spending too much of their money, building random walls on the back ash..."
I am curious. Can you elaborate, please? Where are these walls, and they must surely have some purpose (or, at least, I hope they do)?

The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.

Without wishing to open up the can of worms... take a look at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2677Foureyes wrote:Great Plum,

I think my feelings on them are made quite clear!
My assumption would be that even though this was Mid's money mrs C, this will be copied across the reamining boarding houses...

Re: Grecians' phone calls
I've just received a letter from CH saying that they had been unable to reach me by phone.

Re: Grecians' phone calls
i know alot of grecians do the phonecalls because they get paid and get work experience which they can write on their c.v.
Re: Grecians' phone calls
What made me laugh was I got the letter, and then was receiving phone calls every other day chasing me. "They rang my home number while I was at work"
Persistant blighters, i'll give them that.
Has this calling always existed?

If it takes 87 muscles to frown, if i frown throughout the day, can that count towards my daily work out?

Re: Grecians' phone calls
I've just opened this thread for the first time and realized what it's all about. I have not been affected. I'm not quite sure how I would react.
However my other Alma Mater, Emmanuel College Cambridge, has certainly practised it on me. As Emm Coll was nothing more than an up-market hall-of-residence and charged over the odds even at the time (a student dependent on a government grant doesn't need a bedmaker, shoe-cleaner or an army of waiters at dinner), and did absolutely nothing for me whatever (the college system at Oxbridge is an expensive add-on), my feelings for this Alma Mater are somewhat different, and verge on the matricidal. Not least because when I wanted something from THEM a few years back, they didn't want to know me -- I was just another member of the public. The difficulty was to put this across to the tender young thing who had been charged with contacting me. I tried to put it nicely, but she seemed genuinely shocked.
However while my feelings for CH are not remotely matricidal, I don't think 18 or even 22-year-olds can possibly be asked to do this sort of thing. I think it verges on blackmail to use them thus. The thing stinks.
