It never used to be: in the 70s it was one big woodworking shop, 2 metal workshops and the forge. Stores and foundry (and car maintenance) were in the outbuildings behind. It was a really nice, light space in which to work; what have they done to it?

I think it's more the rickety bendy staircases and upstairs that's more of a hassle than downstairs thinking about it!

When we first heard about the original 'masterplan' in '99ish CDT was getting its own building in the 'arts quad' (didn't happen), with the existing building being turned into a super-dayroom replacement due to the refurbed houses not having them.
Which has clearly been abandoned.
But the 'artists impressions' looked pretty.

I think the refurb. of DT is totally separate from the rest of the school`s building programme - I believe the money has been given by someone specifically for the purpose.
It looks as though work has begun, as the back of the building is now blocked off.

There were all sorts of ideas for the building a few years ago when new premises were being considered - bowling alley with pizzeria/ coffee bar above was one that seemed highly favoured by pupils, if I remember correctly!!

I wonder why!
