Gardening? No, I'm doing a bit of decorating at the moment.

Anyway, Rock 'n' Roll Suicide by Bowie.

Wasn't he from Bromley too?

I think we need other generations to join in here, otherwise this thread, as Baldrick might say, will soon be as dead as some doo-doos.

OK, later than 70s :D

We walk together hand in hand
I’m dreaming
You fell in love with me
Like I’m in love with you
But dreaming’s all I do
If only they’d come true

OK, I'd better not answer this one - I used to work for the UK distributor's sister company, and this song helped my ex-boss on his way to becoming a multi-millionaire!

Here's one that you (moderately) oldies should be able to get:

It's mixed with happiness, it's mixed with tears
Both life and death are carried in this stream
That open space you can run for miles
Now you don't get so many to the pound

next line.........

Take out your eyes
bare your soul
gather me to you
and make me whole

shouldn't be to challenging

sport - what are you up to listening to that stuff.
I know it cos my daughter 'used' to like her but now she's 13
and all grown up so its not cool.

OK Kylie with I should be so lucky......

Sad - but I don't recognise the others...

True it's a dream mixed with nostalgia
But it's a dream that I'll always hang on to....

A bit of nostalgia for me too. One of my favourite bands, The Jam, "Tales from the Riverbank".

rumbled.....just my attempt at humour, it's not in my music collection, though I do love Kylie naturally :)

my eldest is 14, so I'm much more subjected to current chart material at present......

When I was at university we used to frequent a pub with a very lively landlord who had several party tricks to amuse the punters...

one of his turns was to recite the following....

"Thy fame is ancient as the days,
As Ocean large and wide:
A pride that dares, and heeds not praise,
A stern and silent pride:
Not that false joy that dreams content
With what our sires have won;
The blood a hero sire hath spent
Still nerves a hero son."

If we (the punter) could name the song, he would buy everyone a beer.. previous winners were barred from taking part...

He would also get a step ladder and put a pint of beer up against the ceiling which he would then hold in place with a broom handle. When the next customer walked in, he would quickly ask them to hold the broom stick and walk off leaving the bemused customer with a bit of a problem! ;P

Much easier - "Will You" by Hazel O'Connor, actually covered by the Dance Band in about 86 with Jim ???? playing the sax solo and I really can't remember the soloist, but I can picture her face (how annoying is that).

Now for all you pop pickers out there:

I dreamt about you last night
and I fell out of bed twice
you can pin and mount me like a butterfly

So "take me to the haven of your bed"
was something that you never said
two lumps please, you're the bees knees
but so am I

You can't get love from above
Nor any from below
The stars and the moon will fall
Before love fades away
