I should point out that I work in the independent sector of the music business!
Does this mean you are bald / jealous, Richard?
And who do you rate in the indie area now?
I liked Libertines and Ash before them among others
Now - to work!
I am FAR from bald, thank-you!
I have to say that I'm a bit out of touch with so-called 'indie' music now.
I see some bands on various music channels and on 'Later with Jools', and find a lot of it a bit derivative. They're OK, I suppose, but I don't find them exciting. Then again, I'm 45, so I'm sure I'm not part of their target audience!

Because he's a mean, mean man
And even more annoying - I went from squit to Grecian in a day, and am now a GE again. Julian that is horrible - couldn't you reorganise the grades just for people who sign up from now??
It's Wednesday tomorrow, Emma. You could indulge in a 'one week on' post-fest to get your rank back up!

Glad your vitriol is now going to be directed at someone else - pity Julian, folks!
I'd like to see you getting back up to Grecian again - could you do it in a day?

Glad you still have hair on your head

I work with independent companies (i.e. not majors like Universal, EMI etc.).
Not much to do with 'indie' music.......

We've just been copying all our old cassette tapes onto our computer. It's so surreal listening to those old tunes that got me through GCSEs/A-Levels once again.

Surely, the sound quality must be cr@p, Deb ?
I've got a small suitcase full of cassette tapes, but would know how to go about putting on HD, then onto CD !

Tell you what - the sound quality is dreadful on all mp3 players and ipods
I have a cd walkman - my kids laugh at it because I didnt buy it this week - but the actual quality of the sound - bass, middle, treble etc is superior on my older machine
Best sound, of course is from a valve amplifier - true for guitar amps and stereo amps - look at ebay - put in a search for quod vavlve amps - last one I looked at reached over £500

That's probably very true, Emma!

Well, some of today's 'indie' is enough to make anyone lose their hair
And probably their eyebrows too
