Mid A 15:
Agreed, anyone can write an article on Wikipedia - but articles on large topics such as this are typically written, edited and checked by a lot of people who know what they are talking about. One of the two articles quotes 51 separate references. The two pieces of the article I quote are directly referenced from a study at the University of California and a UK government report. In contrast, the AIM article is written by one person and quotes one source, from 1999.
I chose the Wikipedia referece to AIM because it was the quickest I could find. I don't dismiss the AIM article on that basis, but it gives a better insight into AIM.
I can't argue about possible psychotic / psychological effects of cannabis - much more work needs to be done on that to see what's going on. It is also suspected that people with ill health (mentally) can have it exacerbated by cannabis use. My original argument was that cannabis was safer than alcohol or nicotine, not that it was safe - and as you say, legalisation would definitely help in ensuring the quality of the drug.
Incidentally, came across this article by chance the other day:

I'm starting to lose all the threads of this thread now, I think I've been smoking too much. I'm off to neck a bottle of tequila to sharpen me up a bit.

Returning to the subject. Again!! Looking from the other perspective, should obsessive dieters who have ruined their reproductivity through starvation be given assistance to conceive?

CJ, I would first ask what sort of help you are talking about? Counselling would be a good place to start. The only thing with hard and fast rules about who should and who shouldn't get help seems to be dangerous ground. I could be wrong but there it is.

Thanks for that! A civillised, enjoyable debate between (I would guess) a younger member of the forum and an old codger (me).
A tribute to what Julian has achieved in setting up this forum!

OK: your wife has brown eyes and could be hetero- or homozygous, so your daughters having blue/green eyes follows Mendel.
Same goes for your parents - if your mother is heterozygous brown (one brown gene, one blue gene), each offspring has a 25% chance of being brown eyed.
OK, OK, this is Genetics 0.101, and I know that it is way more complex than this, but it may put Mid A 15s mind at rest about the procreative activites of his nearest and dearest.

Not like when I was giving blood and the chap on the bed next to mine was Rhesus positive and claimed both his parents were rhesus negative.
I have blue/grey eyes, hubby has brown eyes as did his mother (father had blue eyes) all ours have deep dark brown eyes.

Isn't that a monkey that's very sure of himself ???
On a medical note, Emma, (eldest daughter), broke an ankle yesterday evening training our Under 16's footy squad. When told there was at least a 3 hour wait in A & E at East Surrey Hospital, Jan pointed out that Emma was diabetic and was overdue for insulin. She was blood tested and seen by a Doctor within 5 minutes when diagnosis was given. Seems the NHS
CAN be human after all.
She's plasterd from foot to kneenand got to keep off that foot for a
MINIMUM of 6 weeks. Her partner and two daughters are
NOT amused !
(Her employer is none too happy, either !)

I was a bus driver for a while working on the East Grinstead to Reigate run and I had the utter misfortune to regularly get a passenger who swore blind that he worked for the Martian Embassy in East Grinstead. I got religion for while on that route......"Oh God don't let that barn pot be there today!"

Isn't there a big scientology temple at East Grinstead? Maybe he had something to do with that.
Just out of curiosity how come a guy living in Burnley and using strange foreign Northern words like Barn pot

supports Spuds?

Thanks to you, Jude and Graham for your explanations!
I only got grade 6 physics with chemistry "O" level so science is a bit of a closed book!
