It looks rather charming. Are you going to bid for it, Kerren? I'm quite tempted.

I thought so too - good luck cj!

Hmmmm
There's this facility called 'auctionsniper' where one's maximum bid is hidden and only applied automatically at the last moment.. if one wins, one gets the item.
You might deduce my position from the fact that I have found out a little about this item.....
Though what sort of pendant, who knows. I have not got that far... Maybe this benefactor's presentees wore them (but he is not likely to have had 48 presentees...)

Have just found out a bit more :-
It is a leave token (described as ‘as at Hertford’) which beadles would issue to children when leaving the premises (presumably the children leaving). That would account for the number mark perhaps, on the edge.
And I do collect Hertford memorabilia!

Do I understand that it is already in Littlehampton? Is that where you are Kerren? (I know you are bidding not selling)

Yes it is in Littlehampton, Katharine!
So if perchance the successful bidder is also in Littlehampton, maybe they can save postage and collect.....
Watch this space!

Out of my range!
The successful bidder also paid a lot of money recently for an Edmund Blunden book.

What he/she paid for that was a reasonable price - though the book itself is not rare or hard to find anyway. I have had a copy for 40 years and more.
There are many copies of the Blunden book in the Museum at Horsham.
I wonder if he/she knows exactly what the 'pendant' really is? Again its not particularly rare (there are at least four in the Museum) and I would not have thought warranted £129 (though I found myself getting silly and bidding at £100!). eBaying is a compulsive game if one is not careful...

Did our desks have the CH logo? I really don't remember that, but otherwise it looks just like ours - except I don't think the seats folded.

It does say it was from Horsham
Our desks were all wood IIRC

Arr ! What memories.
Those desks were certainly in use during my time at school. Ink well, top right hand corner. We were allowed our own fountain pens, but Biro's were DEFINITELY a No-No !
I can't recall a school logo. Some of the seats folded up, and some didn't if memory serves.
£10 seems a bargain to me

AFAIR, ours had a similar metal frame.
