Caravan
has anyone read 'Two Caravans' [by Marina Lewycka, the author of the almost as funny 'A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian]. The book is dedicated to the cocklepickers of Morecambe Bay, and (although funny and humourous at a superficial level) depicts the unimaginable to us and horrendous life experiences of illegal immigrants who come to the UK simply to make money to send home. A very sobering book, if you have not read it. The main characters start off strawberry picking in Kent (the males in one caravan, and the females in another) - to bring us back to the link on this thread!
