I have been asked to write an article for a new publication called Cambridge 800. It is a book being compiled by Cambridge University to mark their 800th anniversary. CH is one of only a few public schools to be asked to contribute an article. We are asked to outline our relationship with the University since our foundation. We only have 800 words and I want to include a bit about CH now, major OB Alumni and CH in the future - ie post the 'divorce' from the Foundation.
This will be a major publication and widely read by many influential people in the UK and overseas. It is important to get this right!
If anyone out there is a CH historian and knows a few good books or other sources that would help me I would appreciate your help. Thanks
If you need to contact me on my direct school email - ins@christs-hospital.org.uk

Re: CH and Cambridge University
1. Suggest you look at Trollope's history of CH, published in 1834 which is on the Web (complete) at
http://books.google.com/books?id=yPwBAA ... A1-PR56,M1
There shoiuld also be hard copies (aka books!) in C.H. - Library, Museum. London Library has a loan copy if you are a member.
2. Annals of CH by Pearce also has stuff on CH and Cambridge.See page 65 for first Blue to Cambridge (15 June 1566) etc
3. Rex Sweeny is an absolute mine of information on Housie history and sources. He is at: rex@waitrose.com but he is, I know, snowed under with work at the moment. Always worth a try though.

Re: CH and Cambridge University
Thanks - I will follow these leads up.

Re: CH and Cambridge University
I recently bought at auction a history of the public schools by Ackermann 1816 that has a chapter on CH. There are 3 references relating to Cambridge in it and I have scanned all the pages into .pdfs. If you wish I can send you the pages by email. I have no idea how to put them in this medium. Jack
