I noticed today that Millfield have appointed a new headmaster, also an Australian. Is this a new trend?
Any other CH parents here?

Well, firstly, he did go with rather a large amount of tuck which in my (untutored) opinion should have lasted at least a couple of weeks, maybe even until half term (or is this merely naivety?)Mrs C. wrote:Tell him about the tuckshop??AndrewH wrote:Attach a picture??huggermugger wrote:Can't quite work out how I send tuck by e-mail.
Secondly, do you sell Caramac & ginger biscuits because that's what he's demanding? (I seem to have bred a modern day Jennings)
Thirdly, what's the betting he's spent this week's pocket money (£2.50) already?? So maybe I should be checking whether you run a tick system; might at least prepare them for higher education...

I haven't seen a Caramac for years. Why no biscuits, Mrs C?
How much pocket money are pupils allowed to take back now? We weren't supposed to keep any on our person (I never did because I always followed the rules ...) and I think Mr Endacott would do 'bank' before lunch if we needed anything, but we had to say what it was for and I think he wrote it down. We were supposed to go back with about £20 a term to cover theatre/film tickets, shopping in Horsham and chits for the Grecians' club (RIP). I rarely went in the tuckshop as there was always a massive queue. My mum was brilliant about bringing up tuck whenever they came up for matches, concerts etc. and I don't think I ever went into Horsham.

Presumably because school provides "house biscuits"?cj wrote:I haven't seen a Caramac for years. Why no biscuits, Mrs C?
I don`t really know!
Pupils are advised to bring about £ 20 pocket money for the term ,(and £25 House Funds) but as lots must get through that amount in one week in tuckshop alone, I`m sure most either bring back far more, or have access to their more when they go to Horsham.
I think most houses limit juniors to withdraw max of ave e.g £2 a day, but seniors are unrestricted and of course can get money fromn banks in town when they go in.
I`m always amazed at how much money ia available to some some pupils to spend on sweets, given the nature of the school, but they are keeping dentists in a job anyway!
