I will be concentrating on both MANDATE NOW which is the campaign to get the Government to change the law to make it a Statutory requirement that teachers must report sexual abuse to the police; Well done Robert. It is important that you had your say. The status quo us that teachers must report sex...

Re: Carol Service 6 Dec tickets
Sorry Pauline. I'm in no way belittling your legitimate request. I used to get hundreds of these. And of course everyone wants to attend such a special service. It is just magical.

Re: Carol Service 6 Dec tickets
Oh this is hilarious. My most pressured ever job at CH was master i/c chapel seating - the climax of which was organising the Carol Service. Nowadays it will be a piece of cake by comparison as safeguarding and fire regulations will mean that tickets can only be issued for the seats available. In my...

Surely VAT is a progressive tax since rich people spend more money on VATable goods and therefore pay more VAT? No. Miles off target. Thatcher vastly increased VAT from 8% to 15% because she knew it would NOT be "progressive". If you save money - increasing your [family's] wealth and the ...

Possibly the brightest student I have come across in my teaching career. I never taught him (Vikki had that pleasure) but I remember regular discussions of revision topics with him in the History Library and he was way ahead of any imaginable curve.

I'd be interested in knowing those organisations who have issued such a formal institutional apology.

I would never want the closure of CH.
What I want is an apology - and that is it.
I have got a strong feeling that your apology might be the route to compensation for [many] others.

What about Southern who took over from Poulton? The abuse continued under his regime and it was covered up? Robert. I totally understand your concern and your pain. But I suspect that only the closure of CH would satisfy your desire to keep children safe in education, KCSIE. Many caring parents wou...

Hardly links. More like random events.
How many schools have had 2 previous CH members of staff teach there?
The list would be endless.

This is nonsense. The Brexit we will get will be one that no-one voted for. We need a second vote on the Brexit deal that is eventually agreed. Because the deal we will get is not really Brexit. And if we get a "no deal Brexit" then it definitely wasn't what we voted for. So then we absolu...

Incredible justice system in Switzerland. I think Richard McDonald was imprisoned for a year yet never charged with anything. Quote justifying this from the Swiss police, ""This is Switzerland after all. Staying here is better than a hotel. Our inmates have television, radios and some even...

"random punishments" which meant a dep caught with some home brew could get a harsher punishment than an LE caught legless on Vodka for the 2nd or 3rd time (not sure if that actually happened but the concept struck me as very unfair at the time) Just not true - this must be a urban (rural...
