Re: Here's a hypothetical
I imagine one of the many difficulties for authorities looking to locate and speak to people in this way would be to inquire as to their whereabouts without them being tipped off and running/changing identity. To be fair, i dont think using one's middle name counts as changing one's indentity. It's...

Re: Photograph of Ernest Richard McCall
There is a picture in the Michaelmas 1993 copy of The Blue which has a photo of all staff, however I wasn’t taught by McCall and can’t pick him out. Was he still at CH then?

Re: Is private education overrated?
Some state schools are fantastic, others are poor. Same as private schools. That’s the sum of it for me. We live in a lovely village but with very poor secondary schools. It will be cheaper for us to pay school fees at secondary than to move house to an area we don’t like as much but with better sc...

I suppose cycling shorts were good grooming tools. You could say it showed the dog the rabbit... I'd actually be interested to know more about these parties, and how clandestine they were (if at all...). Think someone on here mentioned that they had heard about them at time. Tbh it struck me as som...

Re: Here's a hypothetical
The Doc is still teaching! Great man. Still teaching! He was hands down my favourite teacher as well as my tutor. A great man indeed. Back to darker topics, I agree that the house system was a lottery. The difference in privileges, discipline and blind eyes being turned varied hugely, and not just ...

Re: Sheila and Peter Higgins - character references for Gary Dobbie
The disgusting female Chaplain that ignored that poor girl is even worse. Is it now established who this is? She was the only teacher/staff member I straight up hated, of all my 3 schools. You know how you remember having certain teachers you really disliked, you thought you "hated" them,...

Re: Here's a hypothetical
Not casting judgment/opinion in any direction but just stating for factual information in case anyone wasn’t aware, O’Meara died on 1 April 2006. I didn’t know that. Despite my teenaged assumption that all of my teachers were ancient in the 90s, I imagine he was actually relatively young when he pa...

Re: Here's a hypothetical
True. His name has cropped up, and he did leave abruptly. But i'd prefer to err on the side of caution if noone has come forward to press charges for anything... The manner of his leaving has been covered here previously though, so while you're correct that no charges have been drawn, it's not slan...

Re: Here's a hypothetical
Sorry. If i could just ask...how, and under what circumstances O'Meara made you feel uncomfortable? Im finding this rather hard to digest... No particular incident or circumstance, just a male teacher who I didn’t like to be around and wouldn’t have wanted to be alone in a room with. An instinctive...

Re: Here's a hypothetical
Ashley I’m so sorry this happened to you, so sorry and so angry. I believe that there are many more victims of what happened than we are aware of, whether they were direct victims of abuse or indirect victims of the toxic environment around them. You mention suicides of OBs and it’s something that h...

https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/christs-hospital-school-chaplain-jailed-16420693 "...when he confided in a fellow teacher at the school he was told to "get over it and move on"." Which heartless arse of a teacher said that? That is outrageous. That was my ini...
