Re: Christ's Hospital Singers LP

While we're at it, do folks remember/have copies of these other two records from that period? I especially remember singing on the 1971 one - Britten's "Missa Brevis" was challenging! https://www.flickr.com/photos/81125911@N08/52906773600/in/dateposted/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/811259...

Re: Christ's Hospital Singers LP

I think I recognise Julian Berkeley, Clive Whitehead, Quintin Brown and Bill Biddell. Not sure about the spelling of some of them. Daniel, you would have done better than me (tho I can just about recognise myself!). Check out my reply to John Sandys, and all will be revealed. Let us know your memor...

Re: Christ's Hospital Singers LP

Be great if you could put the names to the Choir in your photo please. I sang in Chapel Choir 1970 to about 74 and I recognise most of the faces but left in 75. I have done the world a favour and not carried on singing! Haha, love that John! As it happens I (thankfully) jotted some names down at th...

Re: Christ's Hospital Singers LP

Malcolm was such a nice chap and of course I couldn't refuse his offer. I never spoke to Shippen again before I left the school at the end of that term. I'm still singing at the age of 63 and have been all my life. Not professionally like Rhodri but I've sung in some pretty good choirs. It's amazin...

Re: Thorn B early 70s

Anyone recall those times? Pipe smoking Housemaster and a couple of great junior housemasters Peter Gallie and James Mason. Did anyone ever take the rap for the Scout bus incident?? I moved from LHA to Thorn B in 1972 when Peter Higgins was housemaster. 'fraid he was useless. Scout bus incident - p...

Re: Senior Grecians

So, this thread is ancient, but missing the bulk of the 70s when I was there, so this is my contribution (lol): 68/69 John Churchill (Pe B) 69/70 Chris Tremayne (Col B) 70/71 Brian Miller (Col A) 71/72 Jeremy Olver (Col A) 72/73 John Rowlands (Col A) 73/74 Adrian Fulcher 74/75 Jeremy James 75/76 Chr...

Bluecoat School Photos

There has been a thread with this title previously, but it's not been alive for nigh-on 20 years, so I thought a re-fresh might be a good idea! During my family research I was excited to discover that two of my forebears attended CH (Newgate Street) in the 1860s. I don't have any pics of them in the...

Re: David Newsome

Just fascinating reading such a range of experiences of DHN! I started CH under CMES in 1969 but DHN was headmaster for most of my time there. Thank you John Sandys for reminding me about the invitiation to the HM's house for 'family tea', when we were juniors - I'd forgotten that! David Newsome wan...
