Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
I am interested to see at sentencing whether anything illegal/relevant was found on Dobbie’s electronic devices. It is inconceivable that there wouldn’t have been a search of them with this kind of offence, although I have seen no mention of this with any of the other CH convicts. Some may be compu...

Re: Sheila and Peter Higgins - character references for Gary Dobbie
People might wish to know that Sheila Higgins appears to have attended both of Gary Dobbie's trial to provide a character reference on his behalf. At the second trial he was of course already a convicted sex offender. Sheila Higgins who taught at CH for many years, is now an 'Assistant Priest' at a...

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
Are the 'character witnesses' and their relationship to Dobbie now a matter of public record via an official transcript of the trial?
One thing we'll never know is the motivation and orientation of the jurors who stuck out for not guilty forcing the judge to call for a majority verdict.

Re: How will CH cope with Brexit?
Rockers might choose to reflect that some places like Aden, Singapore (pirate infested swamp) and Hong Kong (tiny fishing village) grew to what they became ENTIRELY because of British rule, which attracted trade and delivered the rule of law and with those things the opportunity for individual prosp...

Re: CH fundraising - a bit of a rant
I would hope, before CH brainwashes the kids into supporting any particular charity, that it does a bit of due diligence into the way the charity is run and if anyone like that Miliband is being paid a lot by it, and ensuring it has a clean sheet vis a vis the way its people behave abroad, and how m...

Re: The band leading the People’s Procession at the Cenotaph tomorrow
I heard D justifying the Dim in Dimbleby by saying 'Christ's Hospital School - where are they from?' Quite good shots of the band coming up to the Cenotaph but the day before, only a fleeting glimpse as they waited to join the LM's procession. Wife captured the TV screen with her tablet, I'll try an...

I wrote my first program in 1965. When I was at CH although a Maths Grecian (left in 1954), there was never the least hint that there might be a career in computing.

The girls that came to Horsham for the Quatercentenary were shown round by, I suppose selected, Grecians. The buzz was that, on passing the pillar box outside the Common Room, one of the girls asked 'Are you allowed to post things in that?' St Matthew's Day was the girls' only other manifestation fo...

Surely VAT is a progressive tax since rich people spend more money on VATable goods and therefore pay more VAT?
But there's no discussion with those who want people who work hard and make money to be punished for it.

I think CHOBA's not publishing the names is wrong. A criminal conviction is a public event.

VAT on fees is ridiculous, so many families will be priced out of private education ... That is the entire political point. It is based on the Socialist fallacy that where the State is perceived as having a duty to ensure provision, the State has to be the provider (and the people doing the provisi...

Abut 1952 I think a Jewish boy arrived in Col B. His trunk had little wheels on which would probably have been a sufficient marker for him to be got at by the other Juniors, but his mother went to Matron to ask for an extra blanket for her little darling, which would surely have sealed his doom. How...
