Re: Dr Jory
I remember Dr Jory from between 1981-1985. I’m not sure if he was there the whole of that period but that’s the years I was there and he was most certainly the school doctor in the infirmary at the start of my time there. We were made to stand in a line in the infirmary wearing just knickers and he’...

Re: Is There Another Old Blues' Forum Elsewhere?
The Old Blue Ladies have their own Facebook forum which I believe is both female only and invitation only. Katharine still posts here fairly regularly and one or two others on a more occasional basis but most have disappeared to Facebook. Whether there is anything else on Facebook or elsewhere I ha...

Re: Innovations in Housey dress
Girls seem to have at least three types of coat. One is long and seems the same as the boys’ Housey coat, worn with a navy skirt and yellow stockings (eg for band members in the 2011 Retreat). There is another coat which is shorter and worn on a normal day while marching into the Dining Hall. Also ...

Re: Innovations in Housey dress
- Some girls wear black (not yellow) stockings with knee level skirts. What is their status? When I was there (which admittedly was a while ago now!) the senior girls wore grey tights instead of yellow socks. We did however wear the socks for "special" occasions. All the girls wore navy s...

Re: Does this bring back memories?
I have a bar of soap from my days with the Civil Service with the Crown on it ( & HMSO) from when I used to work at The Land Registry at Lincoln's Inn Fields in London; as a Cartographic assistant (Clerical Officer grade) we were allowed 5 minutes at the end of each day to wash our hands from t...

Mary Caunter
I don't think anyone else has posted this very sad news but sadly Mary Caunter (4's/BaA 1981-1988) died on 30 June 2015. We were best friends for years at CH. Myself and three other old blues (plus her two old blue brothers) attended the funeral yesterday.

Re: End of term
I remember the dreadful occasion in the LV1, when I, and a few other girls who were deemed overweight, were summoned to the Infirmary, weighed, and had appointments made with Dr Jory. I had this too.....but because they considered me to be underweight. It continued when I was at Horsham too. I also...
