A couple of questions ...

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

A couple of questions ...

Post by englishangel »

Looking at the CH website I see that this year's Senior Grecian, the Band Captain and the Senior Drummer are all female.

Q 1. Does the SG alternate between male students and female students or is it on merit?

Q 2. Is this the first time that all three of these school posts have been held by ladies?

I think I read somewhere that the answer to Q1 is yes.

Q1. I don't think it's necessarily a hard and fast boy/girl rotation - there were 2 boys in a row before me (but that was a few years back though)
Q2. We had female SG, Band Capt and Senior Drummer in 1999/2000,

Q1 I would like to think it would be the best person for the job in that year - if that means having several girls in succession so be it also, of course, if it means several boys so be it.

Caan I have a supplementary question?

3. Is the Second Monitor (is that the correct name for the number 2 after the Senior Grecian) always the opposite gender to the SG?

Thanks Kate, and Katharine I agree with you. Was discussing this with son and neither of us are a fan of positive discrimination, though I suppose with an Upper Sixth that size there would tend to be more than one person who wuld be excellent in the job.

The answer to the third question is yes... although on my year, we had a male SG and one male and one female second monitor...

Good to see you on here Super Kate btw...
