Duncan Noel-Paton [FOUND]
Does anyone have an address (email or snail!) for Duncan Noel-Paton? I.e. the former head of drama who retired several years ago. His wife was the school doctor, and Sam and Kate (IIRC) were their kids and also OBs.
Much appreciated if anyone could help!
Cheers

Not possible, Duncan was a one-off!Ian Stannard wrote:He is still missed - the drama department have yet to replace him adequately (in my opinion)
I bet every single one of the OBs who were taught by him have fond memories of his unconventional drama games. For those who weren't, these often involved a pitch black theatre (with the curtains drawn to prevent anyone falling off the stage!) with one person being "it" while the rest of us hummed as they got nearer, or sometimes all of us would wander around in the dark, with our eyes shut trying to guess who we'd caught by touch alone... often with "interesting" consequences. Duncan loved to challenge us!
What made his productions so memorable (apart from the traditional terrifying grilling after the tech rehearsal ) were the choruses. These somehow seemed to consist of more girls than boys in costumes that got riskier and risker (or smaller and smaller and harder to act in ) the longer he'd been at CH...
Actually, that's not true (even it is accurate ), the thing that made his productions really memorable was his sheer professionalism. We all respected him enormously, even though most of us called him by his first name (something some of the other Masters never could quite swallow) and gave our all in every single production whether we were the lead or just second spear-bearer on the left.
It sounds a bit sentimental now, but he was / is inspiring... one of those great teachers who makes an impression that lasts long after becoming an OB and leaving the hallowed boards behind.

Was he still doing "relaxation sessions" after 1992??
What a skive - most people fell asleep, and it was a really great to chill-out in double Drama at 4.30pm on a Friday afternoon!
