Carol Concert tomorrow....hope to see you there?

Post by jtaylor »

If you're going to the Carol Concert tomorrow, do come and introduce yourself. I'll be in the choir with the lesser-spotted-Plum, and Kerren, and maybe some other forumites?

I won't be hanging around long this year - but I have managed to persuade Mark (brother) and Mum to come along too.

Hoping to see some of you there - should be fun!

I will be there! Looking forward to it!

I know Ruth (Ruthie Baby) will be singing as well!

Hope to see lots of you there!

I said somewhere else that I will be there with daughter.

I will try to ensure she has an adequate carb intake so she is in a good mood.

Have a good time! Can't afford to be there I'm afraid..

I'm still debating whether to wear my festive red wig, but I'll be there. The competition from real trombone players has meant that mine stayed in Valencia.

Oo.. Bishop's Finger. That's close to the Smithfield Bar and Grill. A jolly nice restaurant. Or if you're really looking to impress someone (and I mean really impress) then I can highly recommend the Bleeding Heart Restaurant off Hatton Gardens. Top notch French food complete with patronising sommelier (sp?)

Just got in from a very enjoyable evening. Not a packed house, something a little over 300, some excellent singing from the choir, whose bus driver managed to deprive them of valuable practice time, very good keyboard and brass accompaniment, and a lot of bouncing around for the 12 days of Xmas.
Following the mulled wine and mince pies we adjourned to the Bishops Finger, which can be recommended for its beer but not for the ventilation.
Company and conversation was great so there was some compensation.
A good start to the festive season.

It looked pretty packed from where I was sitting, (in the back row)

It might be helpful to put buses on next year's 'how to get there' as several stop right outside.

We didn't go to the pub as we needed food afterwards. but thoroughly enjoyed the concert.

I was sitting next to Julie with whom I had shared a room for a couple of years at Hertford. I did meet her a couple of years ago through FRU and knew she was going to be there but sitting right next to each other.

We had to do the 12thDay of Christmas (people who had a school punishment) as we had got ours together when we were caught coming back late from a walk to collect greenery for Christmas Decorations.

Then strangely, when we were mingling with the mulled wine I spotted twowomen with whom I used to work. They were there as guests of the daughter of an OB.

I met Julian, Matt (Great Plum) and Ruthie-Baby.

Nice to see you guys.

Had a good time last night - the choir were in fine voice I thought (even on We wish you a merry Christmas which I had to sight read!)

Interesting that we used St Sephulcure (spl?) instead of St Andrew's this year. Although St S has a stronger link with CH, it isn't in such good nick and the organ has fallen apart meaning we had a rather boomy electrical organ. (No comments please JR).

It wasn't 'full' - you could have fitted another 100 or so in there I guess!

Good drinking to be done at the Bishop's Finger - but it was very hot!

Caught up with some old friends and people off here, including JT, Ruthie-Baby, EnglishAngel, Debbie GP...

Sounds like I was a bit crap and spent the evening talking with Tim Benjamin rather than searching out the other members of the forum. Good fun all round, hope I didn't hit too many bum notes.

I'll certainly be back next year.
