Sadly, I will not be able to attend the reunion. With only a few months notice it was not practical to organise travel from my home in Australia. I am also a new Mum and this is around the first birthday of my daughter Olivia, so the grandparents are keen to share her first birthday with her.
I am very sad not to be able to attend, if nothing else out of absolute curiosity about what everyone looks like, has been doing, etc. I notice from some of the RSVPs that many colleagues have young families so it would have been lovely to see them all. I have had some emails from people but I have been very stretched for time to reply as being a Mum and wife to a busy man are taking most of my time.

G'day,
Many thanks for the invitation to the 20 year reunion for the classes of 1986 and 1987 in September. I am sorry that I will not be able to attend.
As one of those people who have fallen off the edge of the world since leaving C.H. it would have been good to see the old place again and catch up on old times.
It has been a long time since I had any contact with anyone from C.H. so I cannot provide much in the way of news of any other Old Blues. I was lucky enough to work with Chris Amis on a few occasions a few years ago. He was then and I hope still is, a well respected barrister working out of the Temple in London. The odd chance meeting with others aside, that is pretty much it.
As far as my own news is concerned, I now live in Perth in sunny Western Australia and am married to Karen (a local “sheilaâ€) and we have three kids. I work for the West Australian Director of Public Prosecutions as a corporate manager, which is pretty much the line of work I have been in since leaving University. I can thoroughly recommend the ex-pat life to any Old Blues who are considering it. A bit of sunshine makes a world of difference and you simply cannot beat falling in the pool at the end of a hard day at work.

David Monaghan (LaA 1981 – 1986)
Folks,
I will not be able to attend the reunion on 16/09/07.
I'm now living in Edinburgh with my wife Alison and 14 month-old daughter Heather. After a first degree in Metallurgy at Oxford I stayed on to do a DPhil and a post-doctoral research fellowship that some unkind people commented was actually a caving scholarship because I seemed to spend more time underground than in the laboratory.
In 1995, after nine years, academia began to lose its appeal and I got a job in IT with The Royal Bank of Scotland in Edinburgh. I'm now an IT Project Manager by profession: until recently I specialised in Internet banking, but now I am moving into a consultancy role helping to recover projects that are in trouble. Apparently this is because I know what I am talking about, which is a surprise to me.
In my spare time I try to get outside: planting trees with a local conservation group (where I met Alison), gardening, working on the allotment or exploring the countryside around Edinburgh. However we've just moved to a house that will need a lot of work, so I don't expect to get much spare time in the near future.
Regards
David Monaghan
Bill Hayton (MaA 1980 – 1986)
Bill Hayton is unable to attend as he is working abroad, as the Vietnam reporter for the BBC.
