If it wasn't for Wimbledon we might have some nice weather at this time of year. It is supposed to be summer after all.

But apart from the first Monday the weather's been impeccable for us! Though probably heavy disruptions later in the week with the thunderstorms

Go Roger!

Sorry to interrupt the flow of conversation but how did the word "CYMRU" get translated to "WALES"?

As I understand it, it didn't. Wales and Welsh come from the Saxon for foreigner and Cymru is a Welsh (Cymraig) word.

No wonder they call it Cymru

I was at art college in South Cymru but never met anyone there who spoke the language

I only heard it spoken up in the north

One thing to be said for them is that they are seriously proud of their country and their landscape - theyr'e passionate about that

It's true of all the Celtic nations - it is their wonderful landscape that kept out the marauding and heathen Saxons.

Our parish church of St Mylor (where Plum is coming to preach or something) was founded in 411. We were always Christian down here - but had a problem with the new fangled Roman ideas that came in with St Augustine. Sorted at Synod of Whitby 664 but not, alas, in favour of the ancient Celtic rite which was the oldest in Europe.
