What's Lurking in your fridge?

Post by Jude »

I went to the fridge today - and saw it was empty....

except it wasn't really empty - there is a box of custard left for about a month (me hoping it wouldn't go off!!), several jars of weird and wonderful things, that the labels have disintegrated, a nearly empty bottle of Lea & perrins sauce (we don't use it.... it is my sons......) and a few dying carrots....

wondered what anyone else had in their fridge?

I want yours. Can do without cosmetic creams in the door though. Smaller or more stupid members of the family may have a frightful discovery over breakfast.

In my (lovely new, clean, expansive) fridge are:
- bottle of champagne (to celebrate installation of new kitchen some time in mid-April, having been without anything for 5 weeks now! Overuse of microwave and picnic set with washing up done in bath wearing a bit thin now ...))
- half a tub of Clover
- homemade strawberry jam from Gran
- 2 opened bags of salad
- 2 ends of cucumbers
- one pack of (old) mange tout and baby sweetcorn
- some Yakult
- tomato ketchup/salad cream/mayo/caesar dressing
- milk (lots)
- soya milk (less)
- organic cheddar/goats' cheese/parmesan block/stilton with apricots (yum!)
- yoghurt
- choc mousse
- sliced ham and beef
- unidentified fruit in bottom drawer
- pot of black and green olives with feta cheese

Must do some shopping tomorrow. Not enough wine chilling. Unlike Vonny!

The reason we have an "alcohol" fridge is that we bought a nice silver upright fridge freezer then a year or so later we moved into a house with a fitted kitchen - all the appliances were new and we didn't want to get rid of our other fridge freezer so we put it in the garage and the fridge bit is primarily used for beverages of the alcoholic variety 8)

Forgot to say I also have one large egg in the fridge as well

not fair not fair - no alcohol, no bread, the lettuce, cucumber, celery and other greens have putrified and are sitting on the kitchen floor in a box to go to the compost bin at bottom of garden... Milk - small amount of cheese, some mixed peppers, and random jars of old chutney, pickled gherkin (ugh)...

Am down to eating porridge as there is no bread in the house (we are running up to Passover - and all leavend things are to be thrown. sold or passed to non Jews... only I'm not that well currently, nor that Orthadox) so Sarah is doing the shopping with my money - cat food, milk and fake butter. Just great!

Going back to bed - hopefully this episode will pass in a few more hours and I will be able to fill my fridge ha ha ha not!

Yeah, yeah .... and what's the 'freezer' bit for? Gin and tonic sorbets, Baileys ice cream, vodka jellies (to help them set, obviously)?

Small cartons of juice (with straw attached) for kids, large box of wine (with garden hose attached) for Mummy.
