Holiday destinations?

Post by bap »

Where are you going on holiday this year?

I'm taking my family to Perugia, Italy. It will be our first Summer holiday that isn't beach based so I'm not sure how the teenage kids will cope...

Just before Easter we're going to Boobies Bay, near Padstow in North Cornwall, for a few days.

couple of music festivals, choir tour to Litchfield cathedral (where Mr Allwood is headmaster of the choir school!) for a week in August...

Maybe Ontario in October if I can afford the time off.

Just a cautionary tale - today I have received news of the sad death of a colleague while on holiday abroad. Foolishly she had not taken out travel insurance, and as she was in hospital for more than two weeks mostly in intensive care it has been very expensive. Foreign nationals cannot be cremated there so she has to be brought home with yet more expense. I don't have many more details.

I have mixed emotions at the moment, sadness at her death and anger at her foolishness.

PLEASE, PLEASE check on your insurance before travelling - I was told that it would be a minimum of £30,000 for the family to find.

Wow. I've never bothered with travel insurance. Am currently in discussions with a couple of airlines over lost baggage. Maybe next time I'll bother.

Insurance, is a must wherever I go I make sure I take out adequate insurance. This year if I go to Kenya, I'll make sure I have lots.

Glad to see you are coming to BARNSTAPLE -home of the traffic jam and 15 charity shops.

Down to Torre del Mar ( next to Malaga) for 3 weeks, same as last year - the complex has the biggest private swimming pool I have ever seen - capacity for 200 people ! Three lovely weeks of sunbathing, tapa-ing and reading brain-dead literature .. bliss !

A word on travel insurance - I always pay for travel ( whether air tickets or car hire) with a credit card, which has automatic cover included.
You have to be mad , or very rich, to travel without it !

Not as far as I know - it is strongly recommended... The only thing you need is an E111 in Europe...

I've got a mini-me on the way, my first, and due at the beginning of June, so I think a summer holiday may not be on the cards.
