Poor sick people

Post by 99yorkpj »

Hey, let's hope the school gets better soon..... there is a nasty bug going round that most people have had, have at the moment and are bored on bed-rest, infirmary or at home, or are coming down with. Fingers crossed for you all!

Apparently it has been announced a "school epidemic". The infirmary has banned vistitors... We tried to go and see Luke (darthmaul) who is presently stuck inside, and we were turned away. They said they thought that if we went up we would all get sick too. And there's only one bed left in there..! It does seem to be hitting the senoirs worse at the moment.. only most of the sick Grecians are heading home instead of going to the sicker.

It`s done the rounds of the juniors already! Usually expect something like this at this time of year though.

I believe it is a strain of the Novovirus. (not sure about spelling)

A 'sicky/cold' bug which lasts 48 to 72 hours.

The nurse said it was a nationwide epidemic of influenza B....they got a letter about it from the West Sussex County Council.

A bit like Hepatitis B without the death ???

Then why don't The Skool invest in a vaccination programme each November ?

Parents do have the chance to get their offspring immunised every year .

I seem to remember that when I started my Mother had to provide a small-pox vaccination certificate.

Now THERE'S a possibility !

.... and don't forget - T.B.'s on the increase again.

You can'teven get immunised against TB now unless you are in a particular group. My son missed his at school and cannot get it now. We don't live in the 'right' (wrong?) area!!

Vaccination against TB was in its infancy in 1960. The whole school was 'blanket-tested'. (No jokes, please). This involved the dreaded scratch on the back and a daily inspection of the wound in the 'Sicker' every day for about a week. (I'm sure John H. must remember).

At the end of the tests, out of the 850 approx pupils, 11 of us were sent to hospital for extensive tests and X-Rays, as we proved 'positive'.

All was well with me and it was found that as I'd been in close contact with two boys at my primary school in Farnham who had TB, that I had PROBABLY built an immunity to the disease.

Frightening that it is showing a marked increase, especially in the Birmingham area, allegedly !

There was something in yesterday's paper about it.

There is a flu virus AND Norwalk going round. The West Midlands was mentioned but seems like West Sussex and Surrey have it too.

We seem clear round here at the moment.
