Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

Jumping Generations

Post by John Saunders »

Over 60 years ago c.1950 I was returning home at the end of term from Liverpool Street when an elderly lady began to ask about CH. She told me that her father had been a pupil in London and that one of the favourite occupations of some pupils was to get a good vantage point within the school premises to watch the hangings in Newgate prison. I put the date to be about 1840/50. John Saunders

That reminds me. What's the status of the legal case against some alleged generation jumping at CH in the 1990s?

The last PUBLIC hanging at Newgate was 26 May 1868, so more than possible John.

At a guess it is about pupils following a grandparent but no parent to CH
What happens if a politician drowns in a river? That is pollution.
What happens if all of them drown? That is solution!!!

Thinking about it a bit more I feel it may have been a rather clever euphemism - nice one, Avon!! If I am correct, there was supposed to be a court hearing in December, but I have never seen any reports.

Sorry, I was being a bit scurrilous. I must admit to a morbid fascination with the case; I know who two of the three accused are.
