Re: The Census
It's not just notes that come in many languages, the actual questions do as well. They just have to be answered in English or Welsh.

Re: The Census
Rumour has it, that this census will be the last - (Alledgedly !!)
Apparently, in 10 years, HMG will be able to trawl everything they want to pry about us from all the various computer data-bases.
SCARY, OR WHAT ?

Re: The Census
The questions DO arrive in two languages, well they do if you live in the Principality. If anyone elsewhere is wondering about question 17, it asks your ability to speak Welsh. As many of my friends have Welsh speaking members of the family living elsewhere in Britain, they are a bit fed up about it.englishangel wrote:It's not just notes that come in many languages, the actual questions do as well. Re: The Census
At the last census the instructions said that someone would call to collect the form on completion, and if you wanted privacy you could ask for an envelope when he/she called. Being one of the awkward squad I did just that.
Collector "I don't know why you bother I'll have to open it anyway"
Awkward " Why?"
C " to make sure you,ve filled it in correctly"
A "If you know that why bother sending out forms. And where do you get the correct information?"
C deadly hush.
She then grabbed the envelope and stalked off in high dudgeon.

A friend of mine on facebook says that question 17 is actually a secret test of our creativity and we should all draw a smiley face in this box (or something more creative - a smiley face is about my artistic limit!)

Re: The Census
I don't see the problem with filling it out... it's all in the public domain anyway...

Re: The Census
I have mixed feelings.
As a family historian I find census information useful and thus feel a certain moral obligtion to comply in order to assist potential descendants. That said some of the questions are intrusive in my view and smack of yet more potential unwanted government interference in our lives.
My middle DD has announced she is coming home at the weekend so she can go on my census form. I think she may still have to fill one in anyway but she thinks not. Holloway isn't too far if she is wrong!

Re: The Census
All the children at school are having to fill one out individually, due to residing there over a certain amount of weeks a year.

She will. Questions 5 onward. If she is a student she will have to fill in the one at University/College. Q8.Mid A 15 wrote:I have mixed feelings.

Re: The Census
Actually --- as I read my "Instructions" -- it is to be filled out regarding the situation on March 17th !!
Since I am closer to the Grim Reaper, than most ---- filling in the Census prior to that date, might involve a lot of crossing out !!!!
