CH drum music

My son is learning the drums and plays snare in a drum ensemble. He asked me to get him some drum music and i remembered we all used to get a thin card bound book of drum fills/music if you learnt drums at CH. Anyone have a copy they could scan and send me ?

I really fancied giving him pieces that I would recognise if he got them right - I too tried to learn the cornet but could not get the fingering fast enough (no co-ordination and that age) so took up drums instead but not soon enough to get anywhere with them - he is as good as I ever got and he is only 10

I was Captain of Silver Bugles (3 of us) and used to play, as Houses marched into Tea.
I know this is no longer done,--- but are the SILVER bugles still in the Band ?

I also played a silver Cornet --- which I still have !! -- but no "Lip"

....... and on that subject..... Did anyone else what the recorderd Highlights of the Edinburgh Tattoo ??

I could willingly strangle the commentator who obviously wanted to talk for more time than the musicians played. He could talk for Great Britain, well Scotland anyway, as he's Scottish.

His drowning out with his innane drivel, of 'The Black Bear' (Return to Barracks) in particular, was nothing short of criminal !

Yes, JR, we also watched the Edinburgh Tattoo. Sadly my husband also kept talking over Black Bear - before, during and after. When I first met him in 1964 he was drum major with the local Sea Cadet unit and Black Bear was part of their repertoire. I have followed many a parade with the band playing that and Semper Fidelis, among others. I was impressed on the tattoo by the fact that the lone piper at the end was playing the set of his pipes that his father had played at the tattoo sixty years previously.

i have a bugle that i sort of inherited. My great granddad used to teach at CH (science) and was a musician.

He died just as i passed the exams and I was given several bits of his processions including a cornet which i am to this day unsure whether it was for me or the school. anyway i started learning it so it de-facto became mine. It is a silver cornet with inscriptions all down the bell talking about paris expo etc all in French.

I never did make in into bugle band as my co-ordination was terrible and i couldn't finger fast enough

I am reminded of the time that the band's no. 1 side-drummer, Mick Sant, was banned for a while by the bandmaster for using wire brushes on dinner parade.
