CH Socks - no, not the bright yellow rat-repellers!

Post by jtaylor »

I was given a pair of socks for Christmas - normally not something I'd be shouting about - some friends spotted them in a London shop.

Found the website that sells them -

Christ's Hospital colours, £9.99 a pair - even matches the CH tie I was given a few years ago!

Are they the school colours or something that I've missed?

They're the school colours for the tie that the CH Club sell, but hadn't seen the socks via CH at all.

Socks

To be honest, I can't believe I'm replying to a comment on socks and ties but here goes. Why is there red in the school tie/socks? I think the old blue tie should be something we are proud to wear. I don't own one myself because it looks terrible. It looks like the sort of school tie you see children wearing with such a small tie that the tail must be tucked neatly into their trousers and even their socks! It's about time we had a new old blues tie. One that reflects the school colours which is probably black or navy blue/yellow, with simple stripes (and no fancy CH logos that appear nowhere on the uniform). I suggest black because let's face it the housey coat has never really looked blue and goes better with yellow. Let's also have it made by a decent tie making company and made out of nice material!
As I mentioned it's a tie we should be proud of and by the time you start wearing ties regularly the price shouldn't be too much of a bind (we might start poor but with a bit of luck we won't end up that way).
There, that's a rant about socks and ties!

What an excellent idea - a tie we can wear that looks good/smart.

To be honest, I now wear my Old Blues tie and socks together on "bad tie" days....one of my colleagues where's a Burberry tie and matching socks, that's how bad it gets!

I'll try to take some pics of the three CH tie designs I've got, and post them up here one evening this week.

Any budding designers out there fancy knocking together some simple tie designs? Maybe a vote on here on the designs once done?
