Reading another post I just remembered that Poulton, in a way at the time which was probably seen as forward looking, used to offer one to one meetings with - I think - any pupil who wanted one. You would go to his study in the morning, or possibly lucchtime - I remember waiting in the rather grand waiting area outside his office. I went to complain once about a teacher who couldn't teach (the housemaster who ran a chaotic house with no rules also mentioned elsewhere), and a couple of other causes which attracted my interest at the time I think. He always seemed interested and engaged.
Given what we know now about Poulton and his willingness to report crimes to the Police, it's a sobering thought that people may have reported other matters to him in these settings, and nothing was done.
