Hi everybody,

Here's a link to an album of various photos that have been sent to me. Many thanks to those who contributed. Some may have been posted here before. They mostly concern Sixes. All comments/info gratefully received.

Were you really wearing your own clothes on Ascension Day 71? How quickly some things change!

I see there is a family representative in the photo, "6's winning relay".
I must remind her of her nickname, which was a carry over from home.

Well done John ! I did wonder if you would spot your sister . I had forgotten that she was rather sporty and an excellent runner... and of course she passed all her exams with...EXTINCTION :D

P.S. Tell Josephine that Pamela Jones ( now Greene - Sixes 1965-70) emailed me the pic. She came to the first Hertford Museum visit with her sister Nina (5s) last April.

In fact ,here are some more details about the pic...I now see that Pamela is standing next to Josephine and then Roberta Ayles (wonderful artist and superb swimmer ) ...is the girl standing behind Christine Howe (can anybody tell me ? ... was she the girl who was bullied ?)...anyhow they are standing elegantly on the school field, behind Sixes, wearing their sports gear, tunics and blue aertex t-shirts...this is about where Tesco's forecourt starts these days. I think 5s, 6s, 7s, and 8s were rather lucky to back onto the field.

btw John,I notice that Pam sent me a good quality pic and if you click on it enough it gets beautifully and unpixellatedly large.

Hi Katharine,

I don't think we were officially wearing our home clothes. We smuggled them with us and put them on in the middle of a field
in the countryside where we ate our picnic. I was wearing a maroon rugger shirt which may have been given to me by a Horsham boy (??) and Hot Pants made from cut-off jeans ( not very suitable for Ascension Day ,tut tut) ....so my needlework lessons really did come in handy ! At the time I thought me and my little cronies were the last word in COOL.

Hi Caroline,
I was sorry to hear your were poorly after returning to Aus. I hope everything is OK now. xxxx.

I hope J.R. has managed to make the link work. It keeps on working for me.
