Not strictly speaking a CH school event but I thought your members might like to know that a member of next years LE successfullly auditioned for the National Youth Brass Band. He will be involved in concerts in Nottingham's Albert Hall on 31st July (with the National Children's Brass Band -NCBBGB) and 5th August (NYBB). There are also concerts in Stoke on Trent on the 6th August (NYBB) and Manchester's Bridgewater Hall on 11th September.
The children's band is for children from 8-13 approx, and past members include Peter Moore the trombonist who won BBC young musician of the year at 12. To give an idea of how hard they all work in the children's band they do approx 5 hours a day rehearing and in the youth band about 9 hours a day.
It is credit to the teachers at school that he has achieved this level of playing and if anyone is in the area and enjoys brass bands they will be concerts that'll be worth going to. The children's band concert would be suiable for children. The youth band repertoire is more challenging and more akin to your standard classical concert so I personally wouldn't recommend it for very young children unless they are a bit of a brass band afficionado. Please tell anyone you know who might be interested.
