Hot breakfasts

Post by Vonny »

Seem to remember we only had a hot breakfast once a week at Hertford  2's day was Tuesday if I remember correctly, along with 7's. Fantastic moving to Horsham when we had hot everyday!!!

hot breakfasts

Post by englishangel »

Obviously dropped off since my time. We had a hot breakfast every day.

Deep fried bread, which we spread marmalade on!!

Powdered scrambled egg.

Boiled egg.

Bacon (the fattiest they could find I think)

And drinking tea out of bowls!!

Definitely only once a week - 2 houses a day. Can't remember exactly what we got now - sausage, egg, beans maybe - can't remember. Also we had a mouthful of orange or grapefruit juice from the tiniest plastic cups (if you could call them that).

Crug.

Bockers.............................................

There is a small book of Housey slang available, a lot of terms which I'd never heard.

Kippers!

Post by Alexandra Thrift »

Englishangel....how could you forget Kippers for breakfast!!

Few girls( of which I was one) liked them ....swimming around as they did in that yellow oily liquid ,encased in crispy armour plated skin.
They were bonier than any other unfilleted fish known to mankind, and eating them was a major archeological project.

aaahhh, kippers, I liked them, I still do. Kippers sandwiched between a couple of slices of brown bread.
