ETTA HARRIS MEMORIAL IN HERTFORD CHAPEL

Post by Foureyes »

I am conducting research into CH, both Horsham and Hertford, in World War One. In the course of this I have come across the name of ETTA HARRIS, an Old Blue who was killed in December 1914 when a German cruiser shelled West Hatrlepool. Etta was a schoolteacher at the Henry Smith Grammar School in the town.

Somebody has just told me that they believe that there was a memorial plaque to this lady in the chapel at Hertford.

So, can anyone tell me, please:

1. Do they remember seeing such a plaque?
2. If so, what it said (even approximately)?
3. What happened to the plaque when the chapel was vacated in 1985?

Any information at all will be greatly appreciated.
