Chrissy, my memory of marching is completely different from yours. I can't remember exactly when we stopped daily marching, I think I was LV, but wouldn't swear to it! At the end we only marched for Sunday lunch, didn't we? We had to do some marching so that we could march on St Matthews Day.

I remember one day in the summer of LVI, after exams, going to lunch, it was a day DR was going to lunch and as she walked up the square she called me over to say 'You must have enjoyed your Pure Maths exam, Katharine'. At that stage I didn't know my mark.

For the benefit of those educated at Horsham, all our exam scripts went to the Head before we were given them back. The subject teacher would write a class list of names and marks, with red lines across at 75% and 50%. When they reached us, the list had a tick at the bottom with the initials DRW. I don't think we had class lists in the VI form, but she obviously saw the papers - my mark was in the high nineties the time she commented.

Ah, I now realise why I haven't had any comments from any males on the daily timetable I posted - I omitted whether we felt up to it or not!

I was an innocent vicar's daughter and wouldn't have known what you are talking about!!!!

I know a German pastor's daughter, a fairly famous, but respectable, recorder player. Pastors' daughters are a standing joke between us, as the only two German-speaking ones we could both think of were Gudrun Ensslin, lover of Andreas Baader and fellow member of the Baader-Meinhof gang, and Ursula Andress.

Hmmm! Still no comments about our Hertford daily timetable, just about the virtues or otherwise of clergy daughters! I wish I'd never mentioned it!

I believe it was Kipling who wrote If the clergyman's daughter drinks nothing but water she's certain to finish on gin Might have been true of me in my student days, but I've lost my taste for gin now!

Come on ladies. Just as Dr Scuffil and I thought we'd got an erudite Masters and Johnson survey going on the effect of Hockey on Hormones, the replies dry up. Katharine the vicar's daughter has replied in veiled fashion but we need some more empirical research - from curates' daughters, bishops' daughters, actresses' daughters, atheists, agnostics or indeed, any uninhibited ravers out there. If this is what it takes to get the ladies back on the site then so be it. Bully off, girls!
