Hi all

Does anyone have contact details or news about David Clements, who was assistant bandmaster in the time of David Elliott? (i.e. until c.1990)

Thanks
Tim

A few of us were pondering this very question at The Retreat. Jon Riley reckoned he might be able to find out, but we didn't
get any further. Jon's on Facebook, so you could contact him there. I'd also be interested to hear any news,,,,,,,,,,

He wrote to me a few years ago from an address in Suffolk. I know I've got the letter somewhere but a morning of rummaging around has been fruitless. As soon as I find it I'll let the forum know.

I just did a search on 192.com and they only have one listing for a D H Clements in Lowestoft, which is where he was. However he has not been on the electoral roll there since 2002 (as an aside, doesn't time fly? I thought we were in contact more recently than that).

I phoned the Lowestoft Registrar of Births Deaths and Marriages and he has definitely not been registered as deceased between 2002 and 2011. It is possible he has moved, in which case the letter I'm looking for won't help.

I'm on the case though. I too would like to get a result!

Update: I have just, within the last half hour, had a long and very pleasant conversation with Mr Clements. I found his address and phone number filed away. He is still living in the same place in Lowestoft and is in very good health. He sounded it as well!

I told him that people were asking after him on this forum. He was interested to know how he could find the forum on the Internet so I promised him I'd write to him with all details over the weekend. He may just end up joining in!

Tim, if you want the contact details please PM me and I'll send them rather than publish them online.

Great news!

I have PM'd you with my email address. Let's just hope he doesn't mind me naming my company's product after him :-)

PM who? It was DAVID Clements I spoke to on the phone and whose contact details are being sought by TIM. As far as I am aware Mr Clements is not a member of this forum and is therefore unable to receive PMs through it.

If you actually meant to ask why I didn't PM Tim directly rather than asking him to PM me, the answer is it comes down to etiquette.

Ettiquette, schmettiquette. Tim asked, you were replying, privately.

In an increasingly impersonal age, I like to think that some things can count for something.

It was someone's personal information being sought and whereas it is correct that Tim asked the question publically and set out what he was looking for, I did not feel it was appropriate to forward on whatever information I had without a) checking with Mr Clements first and b) a personal request from Tim.

Maybe that's just me.

Tim, I've emailed you.

englishangel, you're struggling. Might I (respectfully) suggest that you just let it go?
