Class of 65/66

Post by njeffcoat »

Is there anyone out there who is still in touch with John Lloyd, Geoff Fordham, or any other members of a rather amorphous group of us who came to CH maturity around 1965/66? Some other names which might jog a memory somewhere: Rob Buckler - David Hughes - Malcolm Butler - Geoff Neuss - Chris White - Howard Medwell .
I can be contacted by PM
Thanks

The class of 66 from Hertford appear to have done rather better than the Horsham lot.

Geoff Fordham has posted on this forum and is still in contact with John Lloyd as I asked him that same question!

John Hopgood, the editor of the Old Blue, is from the same generation and is a regular poster on this forum. He might have more information.

They had a reunion last year and I think there was quite a good turnout. There is a picture somewhere (possibly in the Old BLue) of a number of 58 year old bottoms on the Embankment. Kerren?

I've only just found this!
I researched and found that there were 35 people still living, who had been in our year group (or either dropped down into it, or dropped down out of it). I got contact details for 33 of those, and had replies from 27. Sadly time was a bit tight (not like our nether regions.....) and only 12 of us managed to get to London to meet up for lunch on a Saturday in early July, to celebrate our 40 years of freedom. There is indeed a photograph of some of our rear ends, as we leant on the barrier beside The Thames to gaze at HMS Belfast.
We enjoyed ourselves so much, however, that we are planning a re-run next year (July 2008) to celebrate our joint 60th birthdays that year. And we are hoping for a much higher turnout that time!

You MUST have seen the picture in The Old Blue, JR!
A number of the ladies were somewhat embarrassed that JH had chosen that one - he said it was iconic.

August 2006 Edition: Page 14 in the 'Reunions' section.

Could be worth a scan and post !

Yes please, JR. Sadly it never reached me, and I would be pathetically grateful for a glimpse.

No need to scan and post, I must have it somewhere.
I always feel that if you don't want it published, don't send it to me. I may leave things out but have yet to include something I haven't received.

Still concerned that people don't receive the printed edition. It is still on the CHA website though.
