I think that's a salt-bowl in front of Bucky. Our salt came in bowls like that 10 years later. If you look, you can see the top of a pepper pot projecting from behind a mug a little to the left. I think these mugs were replaced by glasses in 1954 (just before I arrived). The glasses had a habit of exploding spectacularly if they were stacked too vigorously.

Thread resurrection!

I've just discovered that clicking on the right of the DH photo produces another one claimed as Coleridge A League team 1952. Actually it's a Coleridge team with col b in dark jerseys (Col A in stripes). The Col B ones L to R are

Back row: ?, Vessey
Middle row: Osborne?, Silcock, BWM Palmer, Horne, Polley, OG Thomas
Front: Young, Bingham

And clicking even further right will produce a house photo of ColA with Kit and Corks both looking improbably slim, and if that's Mrs Riches, then I wouldn't have recognized her. The fourth photo is a tug-of-war.
