Job/work experience in Germany for Year Abroad Student?

Post by KChandler »

Hi,

My name is Kathryn Chandler, I left CH in 2009 and am currently in my second year at Durham University studying French and German. Next year is my Year Abroad and while I have applied for a teaching assistanship in France, I am also looking for some kind of internship or work experience in Germany.
Whilst I am in the process of applying for posts for the main bulk of my time in Germany (May 2012-August) I am also keen to undertake some form of work placement for 3 or 4 weeks in June this year before I head to France so as to maximise time spent practising German. However, due to the fact that I have only a few weeks available (5th June-1st July), I am really struggling to find a placement and was therefore wondering whether anybody has any ideas or contacts? I'm looking for any kind of placement which would allow me to use and improve my German in an office environment and am not neccessarily looking to be paid.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated!

Thank you,

Kathryn Chandler

Michael Scuffil is the Forum's ex-pat in Germany, he may be able to help.
