I can imagine the uproar if that letter was made public.
No wonder Webb's victim was so disgusted.

Re: Who Knew What?
My memory of this is that Dobbie was senior chaplain and stood down from that role as he became housemaster.bakunin wrote: ↑Wed Jul 25, 2018 8:07 pm Were there any mentions in the Blue in Summer 1996 of Dobbie leaving? Or did he quietly disappear?
Why was he demoted in 1993 to Assistant Chaplain, being replaced by A. Mitra? We could even find A. Mitra and ask him...
Are the Blue archives available online?
Munna and Nicola Mitra came as chaplains to the school on my UF - 1995. A bit of a step change from then on. (Rev Powell had left in 94/95)
Maine B - 1992-95 Maine A 1995-99
Re: Who Knew What?
Segueing back to DazedndConfused's rereading of some earlier copies of The Blue:
The Blue does make interesting reading. I thought I would flick through the most recent copy of online; a fabulously glossy and beautifully designed document. Congratulations to the graphic design team.
Reading the outgoing Headmaster, John Franklin's annual review directed my attention to his appreciation of an 'acting' head of department which usually means there has been an unexpected departure. This could of course be for a variety of reasons, some requiring discretion and sensitivity. Nevertheless, courtesy and compassion would demand acknowledgement of a job well done, etc., in, if necessary, a carefully worded valediction.
However, turning to staff departures I could see nothing - no mention of this important figure in the school.
Unless I have missed something this omission seems downright discourteous and does seem to invite, particularly in the light of events, unwanted and possibly scurrilous speculation.
I note this individual (who I have not named) has found employment in another school, so I guess I am probably putting two and two together and making five. Interesting though.

Who were in the SMT at that time? 1984 wasn’t it? So before Poulton.
My therapist says I have a preoccupation with vengeance. We’ll see about that.

Re: Who Knew What?
I didn’t realise when I asked my question above is that there is a list of headmasters here:
http://www.chmuseum.org.uk/authenticate ... eadmasters
What is REALLY shocking is that Baker is also listed as being an Old Blue

I guess I thought having being a pupil himself he might have displayed a bit of empathy.

Re: Who Knew What?
He wasn't a pupil when Webb was there so he won't have been abused by him. Why would he empathise?

Re: Who Knew What?
But you wouldn't have written all the lies that Baker did, would you?
