This topic has developed into the story of the widening home location of Blues on admission to CH and then the story of the diaspora of Old Blues worldwide.

I remember five Americans at CH for a year, but only two names. Peter Flynn (1960-61) and Al Sharp (1961-62). Peter Flynn was altogther unAmerican, as we thought: very arty and unsporty (he became a judge). Al Sharp was the all-American boy. Some say he was sent as an antidote.

I was his 'swab' in Col B. An enigmatic character with little sense of humour, as I recall

As a matter of interest, did any C.H. boys go to the States for a year, or was it just a one-way affair?
David

Has the student body been canvassed as to whether it wants to be spammed with a highly selective set of biopics on Canadican OB?

The Head Master & Development Director are on board and the book will be simply offered to the Blues of 2021 as was the CH Book in 1953.

If this proposed book is to be complete for diaspora OBs (note the post by Taplin on 9 Jan), then Australian OB contributions should be outlined. They made vast contributions to the country’s development and so were honoured (e.g. portraits on stamps/banknotes). This suggestion would add to the historical record, for few appreciate it today and I don’t think such pre-eminence of Australian OBs continued into the 20th century. (But I hope I’m wrong there.) The names John Roe and William Farrer spring to mind and I don't think OBs have been so recognised in any other country.

If anyone asks me to write about them, I can’t. So don’t ask. Perhaps you can find someone else, if a book with such a restrictive title can include Australian material.

I worked in Australia at Melbourne University 1964-8 very happily then also in Brisbane 1999-2001 and through also OB organizations in Victoria & Queensland gained a picture of the significant OB contributions to Australia and certainly this is an important story. Possibly the project I am proposing could be an ongoing book series over ten years under the general umbrella of OB global diaspora? So let's get the first book done as a trailblazer with the support of those so interested in encouraging this project
