Old Blue Rugby 'Blues'

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

I have recalled the name. I think the OB who rowed in the Boat-race and became President of CUBC was Dingle. Any further info?
Yes, Rodney Dingle rowed in the 1952 Boat Race. He's commemorated here - by a fellow Old Blue, I think:

Excellent list Ali!

The only potential addition (Geoff Hines already mentioned) that comes to mind is one at CH during our time, David Casswell (?spelling), who I am pretty sure went on to represent Eastern Counties at a time when the county championship still had a bit of status compared to the regard (or lack thereof) it has now.

Back in the seventies (and probably prior) there used to be a representative side known as Combined London Old Boys and I think Bill Richards and Simon Johnson both played on a number of occasions. Mention of Simon Johnson leads me to recall that he played for Rosslyn Park in the back row alongside the late Andy Ripley in the era when 'Park' regularly reached the John Player Cup final (as it was known then) at Twickenham.

I stumbled across the above when checking out Simon Johnson to ensure my memory wasn't playing tricks: Simon Johnson features in the black and white 74/75 photo. Former CH Master Peter Warfield also appears in a few and another name, one Paddy Mc Daid can be spotted in the back row of the top left photo.

This name may not be applicable strictly, given Ali's OBRFC membership qualification for his list, but, dragging myself out of the seventies to somewhere near the present day, Andrew Higgins had a distinguished career for a number of Premiership clubs, most notably Bath, and also represented England Saxons.

One other. I remember seeing Simon McKie (ThB) playing in the Varsity Match 1976 or so.

There is an excel sheet showing every known OBRFC official from 1873, plus a list of known CH 1st XV captains, but very incomplete.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... KOVE#gid=1
That's a remarkable document Ali. A real treasure trove and must have taken a considerable time to compile.

As for the CH 1st XV captains question my memory is failing me at the moment. All I can offer for now, and that tentatively, is CT Fleetcroft 65/66 (my first year so it sticks in the mind for some reason), JNB Iceley (?spelling) 66/67 or 67/68, BWD Richards 69/70, Stuart Wight 70/71, Steve Quest 71/72. We should be able to work out a few more unless someone can help us out and consult the relevant copies of 'The Blue.'

Add R.E.Turnbull CA 39-47 played for Warwickshire late 1950s, #Also offered a trial for Scotland but I don't think he actually appeared.
Query about his qualification ?
