Victoria Cross for Old Blue
Recent Old Blue, Josh Leakey - Th A and Grecians West, has been awarded the VC. He appears on the front page of most papers today.

Fantastic news! Someone should update the VC wiki.

Is he the Lance Corporal that saved his wounded comanding officer ? It was mentioned on Newsnight last night.
Great news anyway

Yes - the very same. I suspect he will feature prominantly in the next edition of the Old Blue.

Re: Victoria Cross for Old Blue
Does this make him only the second CH VC after Wilfrith Elstob (Manchester Hill, 1918) whose portrait presided over the Col B dayroom for many years?

CH 'has' 4.
Re: Victoria Cross for Old Blue
In The Blue of November 1920 (Vol 48, no 1, page 3), there is an article reporting the Dedication of the Memorial on the Dining Hall’s southern wall to the 364 Old Blues who lost their lives in the First World War. The article notes that in that war, 2063 Blues served and they won 402 distinctions, including two VCs. So Josh Leakey is the third Blue to be so honoured.
P.S. I've just noticed the previous post, added 5 minutes before mine while I was still writing. So Josh is the fourth VC. I did not know.

Josh seems not only a very brave young man from reading this description of what he did to win his VC but a modest, humble one too.
A credit to himself, his family and all associated with him.

Re: Victoria Cross for Old Blue
There was a suggestion that his brother was awarded the same award posthumously. If so, that would be incredible
What happens if a politician drowns in a river? That is pollution.
What happens if all of them drown? That is solution!!!

I believe he was a second uncle twice removed.
