Kerren Simmonds is in hospital

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

I forgot to mention that Kerren was the glue that held many of us in contact over many years.

Sadly, due to work commitments ( End of Term Test Day ) I am unable to make Kerren's service on Friday. I feel sad even having to write this about Kerren, who was always so studious and caring in marking the passing of other OBs on this forum. I remember agreeing with her that it would be nice to sing How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings Fair for DRs memorial Service ( sadly vetoed ).

As far as I'm concerned nobody could possibly speak highly enough of Kerren....but I'm sure you will do a good job Polly.

Here's just the tiniest example of Kerren's kindness to me ( who she didn't know particularly well) . At the last Hertford Reunion I met up with a group of friends at the Travellodge where we stayed one night. After the day in Hertford I was rather late retrieving my car to drive the 130 miles home. Kerren and her lovely friend ( Carol ? or was it Jo? ) felt it was too late for me to drive all that way and insisted on me staying another night and paying for me as I didn't have sufficient funds. So thoughtful and kind.

My thoughts will be with all of you on Friday and ,of course, Kerren's family xxx

A thankyou to Jo Sidebottom for keeping us all informed. Much appreciated.x

Also, earlier on this thread I mentioned Kerren's dog , and a walk over Hertford Meads.....well, I think I went with Elisabeth Jay ( Plummer) and Caroline Payne ( Barrett) ..... best wishes to them if they are reading here.xx

Yes. A bit of humour, a bit of acid and a fair dollop of CH. very Kerren!

CH was well represented. Polly Robson gave the eulogy and gave an eloquent account of Kerren with all her personality and loyalty. Susan Howells-Evans mustered a small but excellent choir. Susan Mitchell read the lesson, from her CH bible, at the Crematorium. Praise The Lord for our Foundation was cleverly interwoven with the organ music at the start of the funeral. The Hertford Grace was sung by the choir during Communion.

CH was well represented including a floral tribute from the school.

The family have asked for donations in Kerrens memory to:
Christ's Hospital Foundation, c/o Dillistone Funeral Service, 191 South Farm Road, Worthing, BN14 7TW.
Any monies donated will go towards a Presentation in Kerren's memory.

Oh and how could I forget? Polly read The Charge at the end of the eulogy. Tingles down the spine time, and a few damp eyes I suspect.

Thank you for the update Chrissy - I was really sorry I couldn't make it but I have a lot going on with work and other things at the moment, and sadly have had a number of family and friends' funerals already recently. It sounds from all accounts as though everyone gave her a terrific send-off.
