Very sad news

A genuine all-round good bloke. I have fond memories of him.

I have receive this in an email from another Old Blue

"I have received the sad news today from Bob (Rocker) Rae, that 'Chief'
Bradley sadly died last week. It was all quite sudden apparently and
totally unexpected.

Chief had had a brief spell in hospital, where he came out as right as
rain and then sadly he passed away sometime later, unexpectedly.

I spoke with one of Chief's sons called Steve, who lives in Broadbridge
Heath, near Horsham. He would really welcome people to call him on 01403
xxx xxx, should you wish to have a quick chat with him. I'm sure he will
really appreciate that, especially if you are unable to attend the
funeral.

The funeral is being held at Worth Crematorium, Crawley on Tuesday 30th at
10.45hrs. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend as I won't be in the
country. Bob Rae has a heart specialist appointment at 10.15 am, which he
will try to change tomorrow."

If anyone wants the removed telephone number I can PM it.

Andrew,
Greetings. Very sorry to learn of Chief's death. He was a fine man who had a significant influence on my military/shooting life, and that of many others. I am not sure what a PM is, but could you please do me one, with instructions about access to it? Family commitments probably preclude attendance on Tuesday. I hope your aim remains true.
Yours aye,
Derek.

Welcome to the Forum Derek.

A PM (private message) appears in the top left hand corner of the page just below the Board Index.

Alternatively you could just look it up on 118118 as there is an S Bradley in Broadbridge Heath.

I attended Chief's funeral at the Surrey and Sussex Crematorium earlier today. Bob Rae and Morton Peto were also there as was Mr Peto's son James who left in 1977. The Chaplain who gave the eulogy did not know him personally but is the Chaplain to the local RNA so maintained a bit of a Naval connection. It was written by Chief's son Steve and was very nicely done. A respectable attendance, mostly family and a few neighbours as well as those of us from CH. Apropos of some comments on another thread, Chief's medals were on top of his coffin along with his FCPO's cap and I understand that he was wearing his uniform. The flowers were in the form of an anchor, apparently at his request.

Loringa, are you in touch with the family at all? It would be great if his son would send a copy or summary of his eulogy to the CHOBA office or to me or John Hopgood to use as a basis for an obit in The Old Blue.

Bob Rae is still alive? Glad to see that... couldn't have wished for a better maths teacher.

and Morten Peto is still going strong. I had him in 3rd form French in 1978!
He must be well into his 80s?
