Ashes to Ashes
This TV series and the prequel, Life on Mars, may be too lowbrow for some here.
However you may be interested to know that the Housie 2nd and 3rd XV wing threequarter circa 1970 or 1971 plays the character of Superintendent Mackintosh, Gene Hunt's boss.
The name of the Old Blue actor: Roger Allam.

Re: Ashes to Ashes
Dad had already commented on that... interestingly, an Old Blue plays a Mason...

LOWBROW!!! When I was training as a nurse in Sheffield in the late 70's we had a great time with the coppers, albeit more junior than those in 'Life on Mars'. I loved it, and the gorgeous John Simm. Unfortunately I haven't been able to see any of 'Ashes to Ashes'.

I've watched 'bits' of it.
I just can't get my head round the story-line, though. It's so improbable/impossible.

Re: Ashes to Ashes
Pure escapism but absolutely brilliant; the best drama I'd seen on British tv for years. Interestingly, my boss in my previous posting had relatively recently left Greater Manchester CID as a DCI and his mentor when he was a young DC is the consultant they used on the show. Apparently, he was Gene Hunt to a tee, right down to his mannerisms. As for the way he behaved: more than a grain of truth there or so he assured me.J.R. wrote:I've watched 'bits' of it.
