Re: never been back

Time and distance lend enchantment, and the bad memories fade. Actually I have no real bad memories. I enjoyed most of my time there and knew it at the time. It's more that I've been reminiscicing a lot since seeing Rock School and wondering why I lost contact with some people having spent 7 years ...

I did go back the year after I left though that revolved around a funeral rather than wanting to go back. Then in 1997 after Glastonbury (I think) I popped in with another old blue and our girlfriends. We freaked out a bit which I was surprised about (though that may have had more to do with a post ...

Booze

The girls arrived in my UF year, though they had been visiting during the LE year. The one thing I remember people saying was not about the girls but about the way the booze changed. We mainly drank beer and cider but when the girls came it changed to cinzano, martini and spirits.

David Kossoff must have been pretty ancient when he visited C.H. He used to present some God-slot show (Stars on Sunday?) on telly when I was really young..... Interesting that this sort of visit might have had the opposite of the desired effect on some people. He was pretty old and yes I don't thi...

I remember the drugs bust making the tabloids, and David Kossoff's visit to the theatre, but not the Housemaster bit - was he just before Mr Sutcliffe? (Who's only "inapproriate behaviour" was his inability to keep his head still when taliking to you, and his SideBurns) It was before Sutc...

Kind of still working in the arts in general. I run an organisation up here that trys to get businesses to put money into the arts and get the arts to act more business like as well as offer services to businesses.

Newcastle and the north east in general is great, can't reccomend it enough.

Funky Dunky....now there's a memory. As well as getting me into theatre (though I crossed sides and went to work on the technical crew) he also supervised our O level history projects. and I remember Bodywork and Richard Stillgoe and the incredible amounts of booze there was at the after show party....

I've read through 7 pages in my catch up and no one has mentioned the departure of my housemaster in the early 80's for inappropriate behaviour, the headline in The Sun was soooo original...."Goodbye Mr Chips" I also remember the drugs bust of 1987 or was it 1988 and the visit of David Kos...

Dreadfully late in seeing this but still wanted to add my comments. I got invovled in the theatre early on in my time at CH and initially started working with Duncan Noel Paton as a production assistant on shows then I got the chance to stage manage. It was funny because there was always an uneasy r...

you think that's bad, it was only in the mid 1980's they stopped us having to march to BREAKFAST!. It was different in that there was no band and each house marhced in as they were ready. I'd forgotten about that, distictly remeber a number of people marching in wearing slippers / pajamas cos the we...
