Re: Some Sad News - Michael Carrington

I was fortunate enough to know JMC in the 80s and had him as an English teacher, Athletics coach and a glorious time as President of the Grecians Club. He, like Ron Lorimer, was a CH man through and through and did just about everything in his tenure. His love for Athletics (at that time with Mike T...

Re: Cynthia Maddren

I think Cynthia's maiden name was Pearson and like Paul, she was so gifted musically. So sad all the more ...

Re: School Monitors

I was Senior Grecian undr baker and in all respects found him to be a good bloke ( I would say that wouldn't I?). He was an OB and was an only son from a broken home. His Mum, Phoebe, lived at the house for a while and she was a real hoot. I remember him going to teach History in Texas for a while i...

Re: Who knows about pipe tobacco?

Paddy Cullen was probably the most rekowned pipe smoker in my time. When you went into the language block you could distinctly pick up his trace.
I think Roger Martin also smked a pipe...

My grandfather smoked one too for years and his favourite brand was 3 Nuns

Re: CH Wall plaque/crest...previously for sale of ebay...

When you got school colours, you got a really nice crest embroidered with gold and this was meant to go on your blazer. I still have mine in "unused" form as I never put it on my blazer but I was wondering if pupils still get this as aprt of the colours?

Re: Expelled

I think having sex on the grounds (and being caught) was grounds for expulsion in my day. Chatting to parents of the current GE at the recent parents day it is apparent that some are anxious that their children will not be allowed to return in September if they fail to achieve the required minimum ...

I have a vague memory that our own Jason Flemyng was expelled or "asked to leave": He was caught up in some theft or something in Horsham.
